Biographical sketch
Kenneth Wayne Reddig was born in Hillsboro, Kansas ca. 1946, where his parents (William and Katherina Reddig) operated a dairy farm and attended the Krimmer Mennonite church. He served with MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) in Jordan and France as a Conscientious Objector of the Vietnam war. He is a graduate of Tabor College and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS). He is married to Willa Fadenrecht and together they had two children, Chantel and Lamont.
In 1974–1975, Ken taught Old Testament at Mennonite Brethren Bible College (MBBC) after which he accepted a pastoral position at Minot, North Dakota. In 1976, he was invited by the principle of the Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute (MBCI), Peter Peters, to come and teach in Winnipeg. He accepted this position and taught there for three years. In 1979, he began an eleven-year stint as the Mennonite Brethren archivist in Winnipeg, Manitoba. During this time he worked on and completed his M.A. degree. In December of 1990, he accepted the position as head of textual records at the Provincial Archives of Manitoba. In September of 1997, he took on the directorship at the Mennonite Heritage Centre where he stayed two years. In November of 1999, he succeeded Peter Peters as the director of MCC Manitoba. After 2 years he moved to the development department of MCC Canada. After another 2 years he took a job with The St. Bonifice Hospital Foundation which also lated 2 years . On August 1, 2005 Reddig came back to the Centre for MB Stduies as director, a position he held until August 2008.
Reddig was also heavily involved in his church and community. He attended the Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren church, then Elmwood MB Church, and later McIvor Mennonite Brethren church. He was a founding member of the Olive Branch community store, worked with Open Circle, fund development director for Eden Foundation, and was involved with Camp Arnes for many years.
Scope and content
The material in this collection consists of three series. 1) Conscientious Objector Thesis Material 2) Teacher/Students Photographs and Baptism Negatives 3) Audio Cassettes of Sermons and Presentations.
Reddig completed his M.A. Thesis in 1988 after researching the role Judge Admason played in the Second World War and the Conscientious Objector status of Mennonites. This is the content of the first series. The second series are pictures of Reddig and students from MBCI with the premier of Manitoba. The negatives are of large, outdoor baptism services held at Rosehill, North Dakota. The audio cassettes contain sermons and presentations by Reddig.

21 cm of textual records and six 5 1/4 inch computer disks.
While Reddig was employed at the Centre for Mennonite Brethren Studies, he worked on his thesis which dealt with Conscientious Objectors in the Second World War and the role that judge Adamson played. Notes, research material, correspondence and rough drafts are included in this series. There are also six 5 1/4 inch, computer disks which contain various draft version of various chapters of Reddig’s thesis. A small portion of the research materials are German. Other material includes an outline of lecture notes on Anabaptism Reddig used for a Sunday School class.
2) Teacher/Student Photographs and Baptism Negatives. – [ca. 1977], [190?].
7 black and white photographs and three negatives.
The material in this series contains photos of Reddig, as a teacher at MBCI, and students visiting with the Premier of Manitoba, Ed Schreyer. The grade twelve students presented Schreyer with servery results regarding “The Lords Act” which dealt with Sunday shopping. The negatives are of baptism services held outdoors at Rosehill, North Dakota.
3) Audio Cassettes of Sermons and Presentations. –1976,1981.
