Biographical sketch
Gerhard C. Kroeker was born on August 29, 1889 in Blumstein, Molotschna. As a youth he moved to the Terek Settlement with his parents where he married Aganetha Plett on 5 Feb. 1917. They emigrated from Russia in 1925 and settled in Manitoba at Alexander, and later lived in Justice and in Winnipeg. In 1953 he was ordained as a deacon in the Winnipeg South End Mennonite Brethren Church, and continued to serve in this capacity after the name of the church changed to Winnipeg Central MB Church. Kroeker died on May 5, 1972 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Scope and content
The Gerhard C. Kroeker fonds consists of a photocopied typewritten manuscript, in the German language, that describes Kroeker’s travel experiences during the upheavals in Russia between 1914 and 1918.
