Anna Dyck (1903–1989)

Biographical sketch
Anna Dyck was born on December 8, 1903, in the Kuban settlement, south Russia, to Jacob and Emile Reimer. She began her relationship with her future husband here in Russia. She was married to Wilhelm W. Dyck in the spring of 1927. Wilhelm was born on July 18, 1903, to Wilhelm (1865–1936) and Emile Poetker (1847–1931). Shortly after the wedding the couple immigrated to Canada. After a portion of time in Alberta, they moved with other family members to the Niverville area in Manitoba in 1934. Anna had many interests and was also a person who made friends easily. She enjoyed telling stories, handicrafts, and gardening. At the age of 76 she wrote her autobiography. Her husband, who was a minister in the local Mennonite Brethren church, passed away on December 6, 1971. Anna Dyck died on March 20, 1989.

Scope and content
The Material in this collection consists of writings by Anna Dyck regarding at trip to Europe, Christmas traditions, and a story of her aunt’s migration from the Kuban, Russia to Mexico in 1924. Obituaries of her and her husband and pedigree chart also can be found in the collection.
Most of the material is German.

The material in this collection was received in May 1974. Who the donor was is unclear.
