Administrative history

The Winkler Heritage Society consists of residents of historic minded people whose aim is to “promote and encourage public interest in our heritage, and to preserve historic records and artifacts of Winkler”, Manitoba. It was organized in April 1999. Its first president is Grace Schellenberg. The Society has regular meetings and its quarterly publication is called Legacy Links. Sally Harms is the editor. The Society has been involved in erecting cairns honoring the original settlers of Hoffungsfeld, Manitoba and the Jewish pioneer settlers of Winkler.

Scope and content

The material in this fonds consists of materials related to the cairn commemorating the pioneer Jewish families in Winkler, Manitoba. The material shows the people involved and the history of the cairn.

Custodial history

This material was created and collected by Susan Brandt when she attended one of the events of the Winkler Heritage Society.
