Administrative history

The Grantham Mennonite Brethren Church is an outgrowth of the Scott Street Mennonite Brethren Church. It was officially organized in 1973. There were 225 charter members in 1973. They met in their own meeting house which was completed that same year, 1973. In 1980 the membership was 370. In that year, 1980, they were partners in founding another Mennonite Brethren congregation in the area, Fairview-Louth. In 2000 the membership stood at 243.

The leaders of the congregation were: Peter Dick (1973, 1981), Peter Block (1973), John Eckert (1973), Aaron Schmidt (1974–1980), Clifford Janzen (1982–1984), Don Enns (1984–1989), John Hiebert (1990–1996), John Wiebe (1997–2002), Bob Enns (2002-2010), David Brubacher, Interim (2010), Michael VandenEnden (2010- ).

Scope and content


This fonds consists of an historical sketch of the congregation ([197-]), a brief congregational history (1985), a congregational annual report (1990), congregational bulletins (1989–2009).

Custodial history


Records were transferred to the Centre for MB Studies archives in Winnipeg, Manitoba on a regular basis to 1997.
