Administrative history
This congregation was begun in 1982 with the assistance of MCC and Manitoba MB Missions and Church Extension with Bible studies for the Vietnamese. Soon worship services were begun in the Home Street Mennonite Church under the sponsorship of the Conference of Mennonites in Manitoba and the Manitoba Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in 1983. The chartering service of the Winnipeg Vietnamese and Chinese Church (Mennonite affiliated) was held on 4 December 1983. In August 1986 the congregation split into a Vietnamese congregation affiliated with the Conference of Mennonites in Manitoba with about 40 members, and the Chinese congregation affiliated with the Manitoba Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. On 15 February 1987 the Chinese Mennonite Brethren Church held its chartering service with 35 members. In 2000 the Chinese congregation membership stood at 36.

The leaders of the congregations were: James Hoc Duong [Young in 1989] (1983–1989), Job Ng (1990–1995), Joseph Sun (1996–1998), Hue Nhi (1999), Luc Tran (2000– ).

The language of worship is Chinese.

This fonds consists of congregational bulletins (1983–1987), reports (1980s), Vietnamese and Chinese Church Advisory Council meeting minutes and reports (1984–1985) River East MB Church notes (1983), MCC reports (1983–1984), Manitoba MB Missions and Church Extension documents (1983–1984), congregational reports (1984), congregational directory ([198-?]).

Custodial history
Records were transferred to the Centre for MB Studies archives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
