Administrative history

The Springstein Mennonite Brethren Church was organized on May 17, 1942 by members of the North End Mennonite Brethren Church of Winnipeg. The church building was erected in 1938 and enlarged in 1948.The church is a member of the Manitoba Provincial and the Canadian District MB conferences. The church closed in 1962.

The leaders of the church included: Bernhard B. Fast (1938–1940), John Both (1942–1945), Abraham Froese (1946), Johannes Voth (1947), Abraham Froese (1948–1951), J. J. Friesen (1952–1953), P. P. Dueck (1954–1964).

Scope and content

This contents of this fonds include congregational minutes, Winnipeg Area Churches minutes, information from the Manitoba Conference, correspondence, and a choir book that used ziphern, instead of notes. This material shows the activities of the church and its members.

Custodial history

Some of the records were microfilmed in 1978 through the work of the Historical Commission of the Mennonite Brethren Conference. The song book was donated by a former member of the church Herta Voth.
