Administrative history
The Newton MB Church was officially organized in 1928. The congregation began meeting in a school, and in 1938, the decision was made to build a church three miles away from Newton. It was dedicated in September, 1939. In 1940, the church was burned down and they were given permission to meet in the Salem United Church if they conducted the services in English. In the fall of 1940, the congregation decided to rebuild part of the church and by 1946 the rebuilding process was complete. In 1980, they dedicated another new building and the name changed to Community Fellowship Church, to convey openness to the community.

The leaders of the church included: John Derksen (1928–1942), Gerhard Konrad (1942–1946), D. K. Janzen (1946), A. A. Loewen (1946–1955), D. A. Dyck (1956–1970), John Froese (1970–1974), Irvin Penner (1974–1977), Peter Boschman (1977–1983), Jake Penner (1985–1988), Art Willms (1989–1993), Aubrey Krahn (1994–1998).
