B.C. meetings halted due to poor attendance
For years, pastors and moderators of B.C. MB conference churches have been invited to an evening business meeting, held a few weeks before the annual provincial convention, to consider major initiatives and reports. The purpose of the meeting, called Council of Church Leaders (COCL), is to provide a platform for local discussion of issues so more time at conventions can be spent in celebration and sharing.
The 2009 council took place at Columbia Bible College on April 8, three weeks prior to the provincial convention, held May 1–2 at South Abbotsford MB Church. But it will probably be the last of the regular COCL meetings because of the low attendance trend. Henceforth, leaders will be called to meet only as special needs arise. —BM
