James Hooper began as student ministries pastor at Promontory Community Church, Chilliwack, B.C., Feb. 1. He has a BA in youth ministry from Trinity Bible College, Sacramento, Cal., and has worked in youth ministry for 15 years, including regional director for Youth Works and West Coast director for Adventures in Missions. James and Rachel have a son.

Rick and Jacquie Block are serving 3-year assignments in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Mexico, as community development workers with Mennonite Central Committee. Jacquie has a BA in biblical studies from ACTS, Langley, B.C., and an MA in theological studies from Emmaus Bible College, Dubuque, Iowa. Rick has a BSc in environmental science and an MSc in agroforestry from University of Saskatchewan. They attended Faith River Christian Fellowship (MB), Saskatoon, with their 2 children.

B.C. MB provincial conference minister since October 2004, Steve Berg has announced his resignation. Steve will begin working in a new area of ministry with Power To Change in fall, serving as national director of government mission focus. He concludes his time with BCMB May 15. Prior to serving as conference minister, Steve was lead pastor at South Abbotsford (B.C.) MB Church for 7 years.

Dave Esau completed 13 years as lead pastor at Cedar Park Church in Delta, B.C., Mar. 31. Dave and Elaine have 2 sons in high school, and a daughter at Bethany College in Hepburn. Dave and Elaine are in the process of discerning God’s will for the future.

Under the leadership of Ron Toews, director of leadership development for BCMB, Brian Cool was commissioned as pastor for Harrison Gospel Chapel, Harrison Hot Springs, B.C., Mar. 27. That morning, Brian and Jessica were also received into membership and dedicated their infant son under the guidance of Jericho Ridge Community Church pastor Brad Sumner. Brian, who commenced work Feb. 14, holds an MDiv from MBBS-ACTS.

Jeff
and Arda DeHaan of Lucky Lake, Sask., have begun a 2-year assignment, based in Beijing, China. Arda’s role is yet to be determined. Jeff will work as an agriculture project officer in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Arda has a BA from University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Truro, and a master’s from University of Saskatchewan. They attended Hillside Christian Fellowship Church, Beechy, Sask., with their 2 children.

Jeff Peters
has resigned from his position as lead pastor of the Hepburn (Sask.) MB Church, effective June 30. He and his wife Connie and 2 daughters will be using the next few months to plan and prepare for the next step in their life.
