Partner with the Quebec Conference of MB Churches and the Board of ÉTEM (École de théologie évangélique de Montréal) regarding governance and assist ÉTEM with administrative processes.  ÉTEM is associated with the University of Montreal and is a key resource for those who wish to prepare for ministry in a complex culture that is constantly changing.

The Corrigans’ Story

Kristen and Garry Corrigan have returned to their roots to become the first missionaries under the umbrella of Horizon Quebec, a new partnership between the Canadian and Quebec conferences.

“We heard God’s call, so we left our comfort zone in Vancouver and headed to Montreal,” says Kristen.  Quebec cultures “feels like home, even though  we were in the West for most of the past 35 years.  Coming back…gives us a strong sense of the loop being closed.”

It was at Gathering 2008 in Montreal  whenKristen says she realized her experience and skills in leadership development, human resources, organizational design, and governance might be useful -in Quebec with École de théologie évangélique de Montréal (ÉTEM) and the Quebec conference.

 After 2 1/2years of service in Montreal Kristen reflects “God appears to be answering the cries of my heart with this opportunity.” It is a joy to work with such committed people who have truly sacrificed to advance the Kingdom in Quebec.

ÉTEM Vice- President Eric Wingender says missionaries in Quebec need the right balance between evangelism and cultural engagement.  They “fare better because they will find joy in learning to make new friends, love the culture, and [appreciate] the beauty of the land,” Wingender explains.

Kristen agrees.  “If Garry and I can be part of building beautiful relationships in some small way in Quebec, it will be worth every minute that we miss our family in B.C.”

Gracepoint Community Church, the Corrigans’ home congregation in Surrey, has been key in discerning, developing, and empowering the couple as leaders.  The church “adopted” them as missionaries and commissioned them to Quebec in fall 2008.
Kristen and Garry’s story is hopefully one of many that will emerge out of Horizon Quebec.  Watch for future updates on the Corrigans’ ministry.

• To increase their French fluency
• Wisdom for Kristen around some of the complexities of organizational change
• For the development and formalization of partnerships between evangelical agencies in Quebec
• For a continued sense of God’s higher purpose, direction and provision throughout these times of change and transition
• God's protection for the students, faculty, and staff of ÉTEM
• For God to place it on the hearts of potential students to join ÉTEM for study so that they will be equipped to serve wherever God calls them
• For churches who believe in the importance of continuing education for the church leaders to partner with ÉTEM
• Financial stability for ÉTEM
