You can attend both! "The Mystery of the Cross" study conference has been moved to October 27-29 to remove the scheduling conflict with our partner Columbia Bible College's 75th anniversary on October 22.

The Study Conference will take place October 27-29, 2011 at Kitchener MB Church in Kitchener, ON. The theme will be "The Mystery of the Cross."

This event offers attendees the opportunity to practice community hermeneutic and study important theological topics.  Everyone is welcome.

How to prepare for Study Conference

Study Conference participants can prepare for this important conversation by engaging materials from the following book and reading lists:
Workshops

Study Conference participants will have opportunity to attend two of six workshop options. The following workshops will provide participants with an opportunity to gain insights from two presenters with an intimate group setting for conversation and dialogue.

Speakers

Willy Reimer is the executive director of the Canadian Conference of MB Churches. He is well known throughout the Canadian MB community for providing leadership in a variety of capacities, including that of moderator from 2006–08, and through leadership coaching for pastors and churches in the conference. Willy is the founding pastor of SunWest Christian Fellowship (MB) in Calgary where he has served as lead pastor for 15 years.

Dr. Pierre Gilbert presently teaches for Canadian Mennonite University and Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary. He is program coordinator of the Winnipeg Centre for Ministry Studies. Pierre’s academic interests focus on biblical theology, spiritual warfare, and the problem of evil. He is the author of Demons, Lies, & Shadows. Pierre and his wife Monika are members at Fort Garry MB Church in Winnipeg. They have three grown children.

Dr. Erwin Penner is professor emeritus of religious studies, Tyndale University College and Seminary, Toronto. With a PhD in New Testament (Fuller Theological Seminary 1983), his special teaching focus is letters of Paul, New Testament theology, and Greek text. He is a member of the Kitchener MB Church and serves on the Ontario board of faith and life. He currently resides in Waterloo, Ont.

Dr. Paul Cumin
is the pastor of a small MB church about 200 km north of Vancouver, B.C. (www.pembertonchristian.com). He and his wife of 17 years have three children. Paul holds a PhD in Christian doctrine from King’s College London.

Remember each church may send one delegate for every 25 members, plus one pastor.

Deadline for registration is Monday, October 10, 2011.

Cancellation Policy

Full refunds less administrative fee of $75 will be granted to requests received by email at mpenner@mbconf.ca or in writing to Canadian Conference offices prior to October 11, 2011.

No refunds (including transportation) will be granted after October 11, 2011 due to binding commitments between the Canadian conference and caterers.

If you are unable to attend, substitutions are allowed.
